It is not too small for either one.  That's why it has both.

I would have a hard time getting around the city limits

But Joplin is infiltrated by college students, which is also Bradley's problem.

If I wanted to open a Crumbl Cookies franchise I'd be looking to lease commercial space as close to a college as I could find.

Crumbl was founded in Logan, Utah (home of Utah State University).  A lot of the franchise operations you're mentioning seem well suited to the college student market.

Yes, it's surrounded by suburbs, Bradley a surrounded by farmland on 2 sides, Bourbonnais on the 3rd, Kankakee on the other. (Before you ask yes it is a Kankakee suburb, but I'm only talking Chicago suburbs here).

Logan is a Provo exurb, which sorta counts.

Bradley never has been, never will be a exurb, why you might ask, well it is separated by about 25 miles of farmland from the suburbs, if you want a true exurb try Frankfort, Manhattan, Elwood, or Monee.

Lots of people can complain about Buc-ee's.  Here is a relative small sample just from our page:

I grew up in New Lenox in the 1980s, back when Laraway Road was gravel.  And it was a suburb, not an exurb.

Kankakee itself is an exurb of Chicago, along with towns such as Morris and DeKalb.  Bradley is an exurb.
