The letter n has a habit of jumping from one word to another.  The changes below have all happened over time in the English language:

a norange → an orange
a naddre → an addre → an adder
a napron → an apron
a nauger → an auger
a noumpere → an oumpere → an umpire
an ewt → a newt
an eke name → a neke name → a nickname

Was really confused why this word hadn't made it to my English, then I realized you missed the 'm'. Spent a little too much time Googling 'upire'.

Fixed.  Good catch.

So the only word that rhymes with "orange" is itself, but it's not itself anymore.

Those don't rhyme.  Not even close.

But anyway, this Welsh hill.

It's twice itself, actually.

Also, before the n made its move, another word took form.  A small napron, that is to say a small cloth, such as one might use to wipe one's mouth at dinner, came to be called a napkin.  Just as a pumpkin is a small pompone (melon), and just as a lambkin is a small lamb, so is a napkin a small apron.

My wife's friend from college got her a box seat ticket at the Fresno State football game tonight.  It looks nice from the photos, especially since she is getting free food.  I'd like to have gone but I'm okay sitting down drinking the last couple beers and watching my game on TV.

Of the four sports here in DFW, the only game that I have been to is a Dallas Stars NHL game, and that was pre-Civid through a gift from a neighbor. As for the Cowboys, the ticket cost is at least $100 for just the extreme upper level, not to mention the cost of concessions and parking. For the Mavericks and Rangers, the tickets are more affordable, but I just haven't had time.

Also, it's much easier to just watch the game at home instead of driving to Arlington (Cowboys/Rangers) or taking the light rail downtown (Stars/Mavericks). And, unless something changes, I'll just catch the Cowboys/449ers post-game highlights on the NFL web site.

I would imagine the Cowboys ticket prices are probably higher than other markets.  Amusingly out there I paid $225 for a ticket to see the Lions play the 49ers at the NFC championship game in Santa Clara.  I would imagine that if the game was in Detroit the same ticket would have approached $1,000.  Outside of occasionally with the Dodgers and Lakers I've never found California game ticket prices to be all that high.

I went to a Minnesota Twins game for $15. Weeknight, cheapest tickets I could find (then moved into a mostly empty section with a better view), made the 45 minute walk to Target Field, and did not purchase wildly overpriced food/beverages.

Baseball games, in most cases, are cheap unless you make them expensive. Obviously not everyone lives within walking distance of a ballpark, but street parking is findable if you're willing to walk and there's no need to spend $40 on food and beer that would be worth $15 anywhere besides the ballpark.

ZLoth

Yeah, I'm sure the concessions are cheaper and better at home than at the ballpark/stadium/arena/whatever. :D Also, the bathrooms are better and more convenient at home.

I don't think that I've ever encountered public restrooms worse than those at 1980s era Tigers Stadium.

Just went to my first IndyCar race today at Nashville Superspeedway. Prices weren't astronomical for decent one-day seats ($85 each, for three) and we only spent $40 in concessions. Finally convinced my daughter and wife to go see a race nearby, and they seemed to enjoy it too.

I also had spent $20 on a clear backpack last week. They didn't seem to care I brought four bottles of water along with my camera. I will definitely bring the zoom lens next time, they didn't seem to care after noticing a few others' toting the big glass.

Facility was actually much nicer and cleaner than I expected. Concessions didn't have crazy lines, restroom were plentiful, lots of broad walkways and staircases. And they permit you to reenter, as well. Only snub was exiting parking, that was a mess but I budgeted an hour for that from some worst-case past experiences, and it wasn't even that long.

I miss going to Marlins' games; you could find lots of $5-10 tickets, though that was 20-25 years ago. Parking wasn't insane, though $10 more and maybe the same on snacks. I'm not a huge baseball fan but I enjoyed going for that kind of price; everything seemed 3x more if it was a Dolphins game.
