Well I'm an idiot. I clinched DE-92 over a year ago. I'm actually at 96.

drebbin37

Looks like I clinched ME 92 back in 2024, so I'm now at 95.  Besides driving 95% of I-95, I have over 500 miles on other 95's, but no clinch outside of the Needles-to-Laughlin segment of AZ 95 and the Western Spur of the NJ Tpke.

I cheat and count the Western Spur as a clinch of I-95Sec (in TM speak). But hey, at least it is I-95W on paper...

Seeing your post reminded me to check through other parts of my list, and I noticed that my 74 was a section of the Carolina Bays Pkwy formerly on TM as I-74 Future, removed over 2 years ago. Conveniently, I clinched CT-74 on Saturday, so I can get that abomination off there now.

TBKS1

I clinched the signed portion of TN 1, 2, and 3 the other day. I know these routes are longer but they're unsigned outside of very short sections of them. My lowest un-clinched number is 4.

I clinched Rec Road 4 in Burleson County and two business routes of TX 6 (Navasota and College Station) over the past few days. My lowest is now 10.

95 stumped me for a while as well; most east coast states naturally avoid that number. Alabama 95 is how I got it, though in the southeastern corner of my state and I was missing one little segment for a few years.

Updated; I picked up 250 last week, so I'm up to 262.

I don't have any route 1's clinched, but that will change when I clinch DE 1 this summer.

Whoops, forgot about US 1 Business in Bel Air, MD right where I live (and, broadly, DE 1A in Rehoboth).

I feel like special routes should be in the same category as county roads.

Quote from: formulanone on June 10, 2021, 06:45:34 PMFor those of you who count your clinches, what's the lowest-numbered road that you have not clinched? State routes, US highways, Interstates, any major enough route (preferably signed).

I'll allow a Business route, a spur, connector, auxiliary, suffixed, or prefixed routes...whatever, just so as long as you have clinched it.

So county roads are in, then, too?

Oh, wait, I guess county roads are already in anyway, as long as they are "major enough".

I like that we count the special routes if only because it means more people can actually participate instead of getting stuck at 0, thanks to all the suffixed routes of US 1 and other major Route 1s. There are a few easy mainline Route 1s out there, but in most states Route 1 and the single-digit highways in general are long and difficult to clinch if they exist at all.

It would also open the can of worms about what constitutes a special route. Just bannered routes? Suffixed routes as well? NY-9N is over 140 miles long and could easily have its own number. OTOH NY-12A isn't even a mile long and is a short (albeit heavily-traveled) connector. But NY-419 and NY-437 are both less than a half mile, and they would otherwise count, etc...

Easier just to count them.

And I don't see why, for example, my 22-mile clinch of CH-408 in Eddy County NM shouldn't count as a clinch—but, if it had state route shields on it instead, then it would be fine.  Seems pretty silly.

Except for fictional or proposed routes, I left it open to personal interpretation. If you feel like a Business or Alternate or Truck Route is enough of a clinch, or something merely posted on a sign blade or some unposted state/provincial route is enough, that's fine.
