I'm not really concerned as I've been doing it for about five years.

I had been doing it for years too, and then suddenly one post threw an issue.  They didn't state why, but another roadgeek webmaster (I forgot which one) mentioned having a similar problem recently (well, at the time it was recently; now it's over two years ago).  But then, it was the URL for my main site, not a specific page, and I was putting it on each and every update notification (so every post).  I don't know if that affects things.  I've been struggling to figure out how I should do updates that don't include new photos in the photo gallery; as of late those haven't even gotten Facebook notifications at all, because posts with no photos do really poorly.

Might be your source URL?  Our actual page is based off of Blogger and by extension Google these days.  Adam and Doug hit on that shift with bringing Gribblenation to Blogger quite a bit in that upcoming CA Route X Route podcast Daniel mentioned in this conversation string.

Come to think of it, I want to say Daniel had a similar issue on Facebook while posting CAhighways updates?

Regarding photos though, I usually try to get those out on our Facebook planning calendar at least a couple weeks in advance of blogs on the same topic publishing.  My thought is that the photos are going to drive the most engagement traffic on Facebook anyways so I might as well use them to the fullest extent.  If the particular photo topic is really good, I might two or three posts out of them.

As I said, I haven't had a problem, but perhaps frequency comes into play: I think I share things to him perhaps 1-2 times a month, perhaps 3 if there is a SoCal podcast in there. Looking at the group, Arturo seems to be initiating articles more, and I do see more images than links. I may change up how I'm sharing things, sending in a list of SoCal specific times in the post introduction. If he starts rejecting things, I'll see if I can put a link in the first comment (that's harder when you need moderator approval to get the post in the first place).

I'll note there's also a Bay Areas Freeways group, but it is less active.

I don't really tend to post to that Bay Area Roads group anymore.  It never had much activity to begin with.

The problem I had with Freeways of Los Angeles is that a lot of these changes were done without any kind of communication.  Arturo can run his group however he likes, but that doesn't necessarily mean that I need to keep participating.  There was a whole round of Southern California roads that I didn't bother to post there over the past year.  I occasionally check to see if he has lifted the external sharing restriction and so far, no dice.  I'll likely drop out of the group eventually if things stay on the same path.  It doesn't hurt to cull a list group down to what is actually viable now and then.
