Dallas North Tollway Widening and Extension, SH 121 northward

I don't see any evidence of ROW preservation for the Grayson County Tollway anywhere North of FM-121.

In Grayson County there is more future super-highway potential built into US-82 and TX-289. The Grayson County Tollway would be built on a new terrain alignment. That future alignment will likely be forced to adjust by new tracts of housing plopping down in the way. I could see the tollway having to overlap TX-289 for some distance.

I've posted it before, but there is a wide ROW preserved along a 4-mile stretch of TX 289 from just south of TX 56 in Southmayd up to US 82. My understanding is the Grayson County Tollway will eventually subsume this stretch, but the mapping that's out there is not definitive.

The proposed route maps I've seen of the Grayson County Tollway path do not overlap TX-289. The proposed route would intersect TX-289 just North of the North Texas Regional Airport and South of Pottsboro.

October 2025 project update from the NTTA

It says completion north of US 380 is in late 2027, which seems unexpectedly long considering the progress.

I think NTTA is sandbagging for some reason. They sure seem to be way ahead. The widening job south of 380 is basically done.

I wonder if NNTA wait to see how the construction progress goes on the "freewaylization" of US-380 before they built also a stack interchange where US-380 and DNT meet?

Bobby5280

If they have any long term plans of building a 5-level stack at the intersection of the DNT and US-380 they should have been acting on those plans a decade ago in bare minimum steps of securing ROW for the flyover ramps. The SW corner of the intersection got partially used up by a Cinemark theater. It's probably only a matter of time before the other 3 corners of the intersection get filled by new properties.
