There's an interesting theory around the UConn women and the weak conference they play in. They played 9 ranked teams in the regular season, but 7 were OOC (only other ranked BE team was #22 Creighton). This may have enabled UConn to try out different formations, lineups, etc. toward season's end, knowing that they wouldn't have to "stick to what works" in order to win some close games.

Then the tournament comes around, they're (rightly) given a 2-seed due to comparative SOS with SC, USC, UCLA, Texas... and they "upset" three other 1 seeds.

When UConn rejoined the Big East, part of the negotiations was around scheduling conference games around their non conference opponents. They didn't come from a good conference either though.

I will note that this is the first year in a long, long time that I didn't enter a bracket pool for money. Sad.

Make it title number 3 for the Gators, who last did it when Hall of Fame coach Billy Donovan was on their bench 18 years ago.
