SC-31 Carolina Bays Parkway, which while not US-17, it acts as a freeway routing around Myrtle Beach for north-south traffic otherwise using US-17.

Yep, and it's full interstate standard with full paved shoulders, because sometime after we're all in our graves, this will become I-74.  This view is looking NB from the SB lanes, just N of the SC 22 interchange.  https://maps.app.goo.gl/7cEVQNDq4xrUqC6h7?g_st=ic

Correct! This route is largely a divided highway with frontage roads and occasionally interchanges. The segment I chose from had a few back-to-back interchanges so I considered it a short freeway segment.

I-66 parallels the route and provides the proper interstate routing, although US-50 remains an important local route.

Also, US 50 has zero HOV/HOT restrictions, unlike I-66 inside the beltway.

This was good!  I was going to guess either US 29 in Greensboro or US 421 in W-S, even though those roadways are a little more clustered up.

I've driven that section of US-50 from Falls Church into DC, and I can attest that it is a nice drive.

Next up, from the Northeast:

"How would they compete?"
"Let's say they rode together in a big buss."
"Is Ditka driving?"
"Of course!"

NY 400?
It is NY-400. I figured the pavement quality (or lack thereof) would clue people in on New York  :D

That is a rather remote section of highway, especially looking the other direction. I did think it looked sort of like the Southern Tier.

It was more-so the bridge railing than the (lack of) pavement quality that clued me in to New York  :sombrero:
