Go Cubs Go! Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs are gonna win today!

Told what exactly?  I don't think anyone was predicting Moore had this many major personal issues.  Plenty of coaches have had affairs with football groupies but this the first I can recall threatening to kill themself with butter knives.

I'm really not getting the whole angle with breaking into the home of the woman you were having an affair with and threatening suicide.  Moore might have been able in a couple years pull off getting some sort of assistant job if he just took the firing.  All this extra stuff probably is a total career killer.

I can't imagine someone making unsound decisions like this was putting enough money away to survive off not working.  If the wife is smart she should get as much money as she can in addition to custody of the kids in court.

Obviously, Sherrone Moore was dealing with some personal issues. Somebody in the university likely could have seen it. But I'm not sure how many could have predicted this chain of events.

Funny how people with questionable character are more likely to be involved in these sorts of things.

Bowl games are the equivilent of March Madness so practically everybody get to play at least one post-season game.

Back in the 70s and early 80s, I only remember there being a handful of bowl games (Rose, Orange, Gator, Cotton, Sugar, Fiesta, Bluebonnet). And all were within a few days either side of New Years Day.

Nowadays, you have, what, at least 3 DOZEN bowl games, with some bowl-named games only lasting a few years before yet another name change or disappear altogether.

For years I had hoped that there would be a Ty-D Bowl.  I'm sure that idea got flushed by some executive.

'March Madness' games have meaning in the single-elimination bracket.  Bowl games . . .

Just getting ahead of the Irish: Alabama wins this game, proving head to head is flimsy. If Oklahoma won this game, it would prove Alabama was bad.

Additionally, Notre Dame would've beat the team that beat the team that beat Notre Dame, who also beat Notre Dame.

Losing 3 games proved that they're bad, or at least inconsistent. They simply didn't deserve to get in above several 2 loss teams. They got in because of politics.

Well, the committee looks pretty good for taking Miami right now.

As an OSU alum, I was going N-O-O-O-O during the run back of the interception for a touchdown by Miami.

So much for the bye teams being 0-5.  Indiana looks like they'll probably be the favorite going forward with how much they smoked Alabama.

Schools with a first round bye are now 1-6. Thanks Hoosier Daddies.

So many upsets. Ohio State, Alabama and Georgia all fall.

Alabama losing is not an upset.  Indiana was ranked #1.

Alabama shouldn't have been in the playoff to begin with.

Indiana is the favorite, but beating a team twice in one year is extremely difficult so I'm not counting out Oregon.

SEC not involving the playoff (3-3) are 1-4 in bowl games. If you don't include the conference vs conference playoff games (Bama/OU, Ole Miss/Georgia), they are 1-6.

Texas is your lone bowl win so far
Ole Miss is the last chance in the playoff, MSST plays today

With bye teams finishing 1-7, I think expansion to 16 teams for next year is a lock.  The decision has to be made by January 23.

Going beyond 16 teams requires another week and would re-create first round byes, assuming the next number is 24.  The extra week would probably come at the cost of eliminating the conference championship games, which in my opinion is no particular loss.  The Group of Five Six conferences might consider shortening their seasons from 12 to 11 games, or eliminating bye weeks, and retaining their conference championship games, because beating a decent conference opponent in a championship game would help a lot more in gaining playoff consideration for a G6 team, compared to beating somebody like UMass 75-3 in a final regular season game.

Anyway, I think they will stick with a 16-team playoff for a few years, and reconsider it when the next wave of realignment hits in the early 2030s.
