Still some smoke in New England, but not as bad as the last few days.

More on the Wildfires in France.

I know that the Tour de France has altered its final stage tomorrow because the original route was too close to the fires.
Indiana: counties 100%, highways 100%
Illinois: counties 100%, highways 61%
Michigan: counties 100%, highways 56%
Wisconsin: counties 86%, highways 23%

Here is the current status on the fields fire in Merced county.

The AQI in Fresno is 47.  The Fields Fire is mostly burning grass.  That's not going to throw much up into the air.  I'm surprised anyone would bother writing a story in it.

For the first time this season we have some visible smoke near the Tahoe Basin; from near my house I can see a finger of smoke from the "Dove Fire" on the outskirts of Sonora out over Desolation Wilderness, the smoke staying just the other side of the Sierra crest for now.  A segment of SR 108 near Sonora has been closed this afternoon because of that one.

The Dove Fire in Sonora was reported as being 90% contained.  Tuolumne County Sheriff had arrested someone who had allegedly started the fire.

Spokane appears to be in for a rough evening.  The winds are strong up there today and much of the northwest portion of the city is being evacuated.
