Quote from: Rothman on August 15, 2025, 12:16:23 AMEven if received, I'd imagine there'd be all sorts of assumptions made about the character of the sender...

(personal opinion emphasized)

From your vague profile, location and negative posts lacking facts over many months, there's no need for assumption on author's character.

I'm just saying that someone who would blast twenty DOT employees with an e-mail would probably cause a lot of raised eyebrows.  It's sufficient enough just to contact a relevant unit or even to call the main number.

And, I'd be happy to discuss any of my points where you think my facts are lacking.

I got a reply from several NCDOT employees in Division 12 for the signage at the I-85 SC state line, and Division 5 for Raleigh.

To be a fly on their wall...

At NYSDOT, you're 95% sure to get a response from a single e-mail, with the 5% being it falling through the cracks for whatever reason.  It's simple policy and the responses will always be polite despite whatever thoughts may also be sparked.

My point is, send one e-mail, those on the other side go, "Huh, let's look into this" at best and "Hm.  Not sure where they're coming from, but we have to send them something in response" at worst.

Send twenty e-mails to twenty different people and behind the scenes, it's 95% sure that someone is saying something like "This guy again.  He brings up good things, but heh, we'll see what it is next week. Joe, look into it and get a response back."

I'm just saying that there's a human element here.  DOT employees are human, not machines, and therefore have very human and imperfect reactions to behavior considered outside the norm.  When sending one or two e-mails will get the job done, there's no reason to send twenty.

And truth be told, at least your concerns are toward the valid side of the scale.  You should see the linguistic gymnastics that occur when a response must be made to someone who not only does not understand policy, but may not have a total grasp on reality...

I did go and resend each person my request individually with no one else copied. Thank you for reminding me about my message possibly not getting through.

If I see something overlooked and take the time to craft an email and look up staff email addresses, I definitely want someone to receive it, and enough did that I can say I did my part.
