My walls are covered with signs and maps. Almost all of my signs are city owned roads :/. But here's the pictures anyway;
My entire collection:

Walls. (I made that shield a LONG time ago, I didn't put "TEXAS" in the correct spot. ) :

My wall, there was supposed to be an entire theme for that corner. But that never happened, and we've never gotten around to painting over it.:

My closet door:

Right inside my room. (I know my room was dirty..) :

Above the speed limit sign:

My room door:

From inside my room, that's behind my room door:

So, that's pretty much it. Never mind the dirtiness in my room. It's been clean A LOT since then..

I won an auction for a 3M HV traffic signal and I'm putting that sucka in the room :)

I'm jealous! Any photos?

Won it on eBay so here's the seller's photo of it:

Just needs a PAR46 bulb and a sequencer.

The only decor that could be possibly written off as roadgeek material is a 6' by 4' laminated world map.
Disappointing

I have no roadgeek decor, though I was thinking of a way to blend roadgeek decor with science (perhaps a "SPEED LIMIT c" sign).

By the way, KillerTux, where did you get the MD 68 and MD 418 shields?

Colors chosen for obvious reason.  ;-)

It's good to have a Ghanaian on this forum. Or is that supposed to represent Bolivia? :hmmm:

Neither. It's supposed to represent traffic lights.

Guess it wasn't as obvious as I thought. :-D
If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.

Maybe it's because rectangular traffic lights aren't in the MUTCD.

Added more signs and lights - and there's a NY 5 and a "Signal Ahead" warning sign coming soon:

Still have to get bolts and visors for the Crouse Hinds Type R light too.

Anybody else here decorate their room with guide signs, traffic lights and other items of roadgeekery? Here's my room:

I would love to have some roadgeek stuff up in the living room. My wife will not allow most of it.  We do have a shelf with some Duval County FL tags from 1969/70- current issue and a 1956 NJ tag.. because to colors match  :)

Ah boooooo...but there's always a den or a garage if you can. :P

Just won an auction for another sign - probably it for now until I can find road-used very local stuff. Here it is:

Alps

I've been upgrading over the past week.  Replacements: the weird Scotchlite silver-filled embossed arrow instead of a really junky one, and an embossed metal stop sign (THRU STREET, black on yellow) instead of the wooden one.  New: Cutout US 160 (1960's Colorado style), embossed One Way.  Traded ND I-94 shield for two-digit VT I-189 (both state name).  Still expecting a Manitoba TCH 1 shield as well.  That'll set me for quite some time.

Roadgeek Adam

I have an NY 387 shield from 1962, a NY 9N reference marker, PA 999 shield, a Raritan Arsenal Building S-623 sign, several topographic maps, photos of 7 Delaware River Bridges, several Huletts Landing highways, the Pennsy Turnpike tunnels.

I have been looking to add to that a bit.

yes, I'd definitely like to see the NY 387.  Would be interesting to see what style it is... officially, by then NY was using white squares with no "NY" or "US" in the crown, if not the black squares - by 1964 they were using black squares.  But, I know they were still putting up surplus embossed markers as late as 1962.  I've seen an NY US 11 with cateyes with a '62 stamp on the back.

your 20x20 Thruway is 52-61 or so.  1952 is about when the thing opened!

Not a great photo.

I have no photos of the 9N marker and 999 shield

How the hell do you guys get those signs?  I personally wouldn't want to clutter my room with shields, but having one or two would be cool.

Flea Markets, e-bay, estate auctions (sometimes). Or talk to Jake ;)

how do you know that your 387 is a 1962?  does it have a stamp on the back?

also, does it look to have been repainted from an outline shield on a white square?

Written on the back in marker of Jan 1962. I couldn't tell.

the way to tell is that the outer black seems painted, while the inner border of the shield is screen-printed.  the paint also wears differently.  here is an extreme example.

I love those Connecticut Tpke. signs too. Wish I had an old style cutout NY shield - especially if it was a NY 25 one.

Was supposed to be getting a local street sign from another LIer on the Signaltraffic forums: a Patchogue Avenue sign from North Bellport...but the blizzard will delay that a day or two. :/
