Never actually saw an approved routing for this freeway but it uses the stub of 22, so I'm assuming it would be signed as 22? Or would 1 have taken it over?

When was this proposal? I never heard of this but then again it got shelved as soon as the Vincent Thomas and Gerald Desmond bridges were made near the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles.

I think the text says 1960 on the photo, hard to tell with the compression.

From what I see:

12 MAR 1965 = proposal
21 JUL 1965 = approval

Imagine if they had actually tried to build that freeway back then. It might have helped relieve Interstate 405, but like all freeway revolts, the number of homes and businesses that would need to be torn down to build the roadway would have been far too extensive.

Looking at the other end of the routing, it looks like they had started clearing the parcels around the 110 side as well?
