I'd rather they leave I-55 alone and route I-41 down I-90/I-94, I-57 and I-24 instead. Very ambitious, I know, but it would make better use of the number than the useless part south of Milwaukee with the I-94 concurrency and stub end just across the state line.

but on the other hand, nobody cares about the I-238 numbering except a few roadgeeks.  Everyone else would just be confused by the number change.  Even changing the signs will cost something, and with more important projects than they have money for I don't blame Caltrans for not rushing ahead to change I-238.

I'm also not happy with so many freeways in the Bay Area being x80s.  Full set, except for 180 and 480.  It's boring and they are easily confused by newcomers.
