Yet another year will go by without the government building the much-needed Coat-to-Cost Highway.
How much to cover the highway?

Unfortunately, I suspect you may be correct.

Yes, the Great Renumbering is scheduled to take place in Alanland this year. I have it on good authority that 2 will become 3, 3 will become π, π will become 343, and 343 will become a variety of different numbers depending on the day of the week, the goat population in the city of (page torn off), and the length of Alan Dunes-Flamingo's hair.

Based on a suggestion of some clever intern, CalTrans will solve the I-x80 shortage in the Bay Area by switching from decimal to hexadecimal. The I-A80 shields will go on former I-238 to much fanfare, and all involved will smugly pat themselves on their backs.

However, it will then backfire as someone points out that all California routes higher than 9 are now technically misnumbered, and in a fit of bureaucratic overreaction, all those routes' decimal numbers will get replaced with their hexadecimal equivalents. Thus, I-10 becomes I-A, CA 11 becomes CA B, etc, up to I-980 becoming I-3D4.  Even the brand new I-A80 shields will need to be swapped out becoming, ironically, I-438, the hexadecimal equivalent of 1080.

Mass confusion ensues.  But hey, no more I-238, so worth it.

When I read that press release, my first thought was—as I'm sure yours was too—How will they measure his hair?
