What is a "metalled road"?

In Czechia, a Prague Metalled road is E50, since it goes around the Periphery

A road where someone spilled a large amount of Anthrax.

What is a "metalled road"?

It's the more winding sibling route to a very straight route. For example, I-295 with some of its convoluted gyrations running as a close sibling to the New Jersey Turnpike. You might say the metalled road is a "twisted sister."

I guess that's a contender for 'worst answer' because Livingston County Highway D32 is asphalt...

You can also buy a D32 sticker at the store there.  I got my then girlfriend (now wife) one back in July 2017.

You know how they used to say the streets of New York are paved in gold? That's a metalled road. Smaller, less prosperous cities have tried paving their streets with cheaper metals like tin or iron. Phoenix, Arizona tried copper streets at one point, but the pavement kept getting stolen.

The driver should be forcibly removed from the truck, which is then towed and the driver generously given a Smart Car to complete their journey in. (They get to figure out how any load they're carrying works with that on their own dime.)

The truck is not disobeying the sign at all.  The message on that sign is declarative, not imperative.  No trucks left the lane, that's all.  If anything, the driver is only proving the sign correct.

Therefore, the fine should be no less than $150 and no more than 30 days in jail.

None. The truck driver announced that his vehicle is self-identifying as a car, so it's allowed in that lane. Anyone who dares to disagree will be subject to nasty ridicule from certain quarters.

He was so stupid.  Why did he do it?  He had been on edge ever since he crossed into the Perkins Union.  It wasn't the chatter on the radio about goat rights extremists getting more influential within the government.  It wasn't even the red guide signs.  No, it was the extra strict law enforcement, and he had just made his last mistake in his career.

The sign clearly said there should be no trucks in the left lane, and who was he?  A truck driver who had used the left lane.  He had gotten careless.  Complacent.  Forgot to make sure to obey every law, every rule, every regulation to the letter.  He knew he was in trouble the moment he saw the flashing lights.

They exited the police cars with their guns drawn and forced him out of the truck.  They stopped traffic, forced him to kneel at the edge of the pavement facing away from the road.  One of the police officers, then walked back, and he could hear their boots on the ground, every step filling him with dread as they walked to the other side.  Then he heard the click of the gun and a loud bang, and then he heard no more.
