Which U.S. state capital has the most interesting highway network?

Give at least two reasons to support your answer.

It has to be Honolulu, Hawaii.  Reasons:

1) The Interstate highways there apparently use numbers from the native Hawaiian dialect.  And weirdly, all their numbers seem to start with the letter H.

2) Honolulu, and the rest of Hawaii as well, seem to get no out-of-state visitors. Every car I saw there had Hawaiian plates.
Not surprised you picked that. You're almost an anagram for it.

The debate was on the feasibility of getting a hypotenuse expressway route to go from the BQE by the Brooklyn Bridge to Flushing Meadows because they wanted a quicker way to the US Open.

Route 66, the Lincoln Highway...  Some routes get all the love, complete with websites and driving guides dedicated to them.

What less-talked-about highway doesn't get enough love in the driving enthusiast culture?  Why should it have its day in the limelight?

I'm sure Mariposa locals "would agree" that it is Chowchilla Mountain Road.  It does get you to Yosemite and lets you know what your actual driving skill is along the way.

That would probably be a short argument; we're both in Planning and he's a couple levels up the food chain from me, though we're in different regions.  But a discussion off this site did lead to a rather interesting factoid about a certain infamous member (which I shared on the Key Bridge thread).

VA-79 because, at its southern end, the Apple House is located one-tenth of a mile to the west. So when someone says he's driven that road, you can ask him, "How do you like those apples?"

(The apple donuts they sell are really good; we also had a really good breakfast when we stopped there en route to Ohio some years back.)

US 50. Besides the mileage signs at the beginning of the route in MD and CA, there ain't a damn thing interesting about it.

Just to see how people argue about how to drive it in Kit Carson County, Colorado.

That applies to a lot of Colorado US Routes - US6 in the mountains, US160 in Walsenburg, formerly US85 in Colorado Springs. We're not good at US Routes.

For my answer, I'll say TX165.

Do those others also have a physical gap, where the route designation jumps across thirty yards of grassy neutral space?  I would personally love to see an online discussion between US-24 foamers about what to do with that.
