Born in Corpus Christi, Texas (in a hospital right next to the beach I might add), and raised all over South Texas.  I love it here; my desire to leave my home area ranges from absolute zero to negative [insert large number here].  My reasons 'why' are as follows:

--  The single biggest reason is that we have the best climate in the continental 48 states.  I feel this way because we can enjoy a day at the beach practically any day on the calendar -- even in the middle of January.  Outside South Texas and South Florida, I can't think of anyplace else where winters are that favorable.  We're also so far south that severe weather and tornadoes are infrequent; snow is once-in-a-lifetime occurrence (and then warm again the next day).  Hurricanes are also not as common as the rest of the gulf coast.  Only downside is we have to endure on average of four or five freezing nights per year.  I can't handle cold very well; I remember when Scott5114 said it best when I shiver when our mercury drops below 350 degrees.

-- Other factors include affordable cost of living (I believe one of the more affordable places to live on a modest paycheck).  Friendly people and laid-back pace of life.  Not crowded nor a lot of traffic even during rush hour. 

The one thing I wish we had been from the beginning is that I wish Corpus Christi was more of a tourist-focused destination similar to Daytona Beach, Myrtle Beach, Santa Monica, Destin/Ft. Walton, etc.  As it is we are one of the better locations for boating and fishing, we have a couple of attractions the Texas St. Aquarium and the USS Lexington museum; there are propositions to add botanical gardens, a beachside amusement park and boardwalk pier, return of the Texas Treasure casino cruise, additional cruise docks to bring in Royal Caribbean and Carnival.  A riverwalk canal (canal-walk if you will) is already under construction. 

Oof.  Corpus Christi is where fish can swim through the air due to the 100% humidity and it somehow not raining.

My body adapted to the desert so quickly that now whenever I encounter high humidity (like when I sit in the sauna at the gym right after they've sprayed it down, or if I stay in the shower too long) it starts freaking out and my heart rate spikes. I find myself having to take a break from the sauna to get some fresh air. I'm a little worried if I visited Corpus again I might have a legitimate heart attack or something.

I'm not sure if he does, this dude is known for saying out of pocket things on here.

The humidity was something I never could fully get comfortable with in Florida.  Ignoring it on a long run in Orlando circa summer 2015 almost got me killed.  Had a fun ER visit after losing over ten pounds of water weight.

It certainly is easier to get a handle on if you are dehydrated.  Perspiration pretty much stops throughout the entire body.

I get what you guys are saying, our 80-degree dew points during the summer months, but also consider that we are also one of the windiest cities in North America.  The constant sea-breezes from the gulf help moderate and even sometimes relieve the effects of moisture-filled airmass during the daytime.  It's the nighttime that actually feels worse than the daytime: first the breeze either lets up or even reverses direction and blows into the gulf and second our temperatures rarely cool down overnight exacerbating the "swimming-in-the-air" sensation you're referring to; last month our mercury remained above 80 degrees around the clock the first 18 days of August (which is very much expected here).  I guess I've been so used to it that it I hardly even think about it until outsiders keep pointing it out to me.  And our summer highs aren't that horrendously hot....Corpus Christi only averages 97 degrees in our warmest month August, which is not extreme by any means but again that's just my personal thoughts.

As for politics I'll just say like this:  I have equally no love for either side of the aisle and probably won't even consider voting either of the two major parties.  True story:  in the fall of 1996 our high school did a mock (pretend) election, and I was one of only four (or five) students that voted for Ross Perot; it's been that way for me for all my adult life.  I really don't care (indeed sometimes forget) who's president as I don't let it effect my life.

1) All I know is clothes stick to you right as you leave the door due to the humidity down there, no matter the breeze or temperature.

2) The Perot thing may not be the flex you're making it out to be, given the context you provided (rather than whether he was actually a good candidate or not).
