This old thread was made on the forum when the Great Recession stimulus was passed over 16 years ago. Now out of all of our suggestions, what has been built? Obviously a lot hasn't like completing CT 11.

Edit: I mean in general, not specifically with the stimulus money.

Some of that stuff may have been completely with money not from that act, that was a long time ago.

I'm assuming it wasn't pocketed and used for things it shouldn't have been. That doesn't happen in politics.

No, governments always use all money given to them perfectly, especially the Federal Government. /s/

Can't speak for any non-transportation elements of ARRA, but if you find that money was spent for ineligible activities transportation-wise, I'd love to hear how...

The second segment of KY 15 to be four-laned in Breathitt County was built with ARRA money.

Design work had been completed, and right-of-way acquisition and utility relocation had already been funded. The stimulus money allowed KYTC to redirect the funding previously scheduled for construction of that portion to other projects.

This was a really great example of the "shovel-ready projects" that the ARRA was touted to support.
Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.

About 2 miles of US401 North of Raleigh, NC was widened to 4 lanes divided as part of the incremental widening to Louisburg, 25 miles NE of Raleigh. There are 7 miles remaining to be widened in 2025.

This 2 miles was built using stimulus funds from the Great Recession.  The highway is either being widened again or they are installing new storm and sewer systems as this area grows with starter home nieghborhoods.

Obama also gave NC a $600M high speed rail grant which NC used to make track improvements through central NC and it now accommodates a booming intrastate rail service connecting the most populated cities. Buttigieg awarded NC another 1.1B for high speed rail between Raleigh and Richmond which is under construction right now. That will all be spent on 15 miles North of Raleigh to Wake Forest, NC (the town once home to Wake Forest University) on its way towards Richmond, VA one day enabling day trips from Raleigh to D.C. with 3 hr. one way travel time.
