People like bright-line rules because they make things clearer. Here are three easy ways you can add bright-line rules to your Internet posts.

Beltway

Bold move listing three rules and then outsourcing the rest to our imagination.

It's hard to per say prove ai use, but it's certainly easy to tell for the most part when you get used to it. I support the rule.

My co-worker says that, when she and her husband tell their Google assistant that she lied to them or whatever, she now apologizes and promises to do better in the future.  Ridiculous.

You know when AI first rolled out I thought it was incredible but the more and more I use it the more and more I'm learning that it's not as smart as I initially thought it was or maybe they're intentionally dumbing it down? Has anyone else noticed that or is it just me?

Or the AI is dumbing itself down.  I was watching a video on what would happen if AI were to take over and it said the AI would first try to seem super helpful while dumbing itself down to not seem to dangerous.  It would then try to get more resources to expand its data center capacity and build itself out in preparation for full takeover.  The scary thing is, all those things line up to closely to what we're actually seeing in the world for comfort.

Yeah, I've thought about that too. I've seen that mentioned on Joe Rogan.

There's a less scary explanation: the AI is dumbing itself down because as the internet fills up with AI-generated slop content, other AIs are ingesting that and making it part of their model, ouroboros-style.

The guy who created the Terminator Films seems like he is convinced that AI is like his fictional cyberg world. He believes AI is catching up to his fictional Skynet.

Scary thought.

Imagine if a cyberg was sent back from the Future Wars by Sky Net to hit the Titanic.  I'm thinking we got the next big James Cameron blockbuster.

In a few years, we'll have to poke our computers with a stick to get them to do anything as they'll be too busy sleeping in and crashing on our couches instead of working on taking over the world. Of course the annoyance is that you must always carry that stick around as three-factor authentication.

Heck, I was reading this morning that someone asked AI to generate a bunch of code, and then fed the exact same code into the exact same AI asking it to check for error, and it found several.  So the AI knew the code was wrong, but generated it anyways.  Spooky.

The AI didn't "know" anything. The act of feeding the code into the AI probably pushed the generation of the code out of the context window, so it probably didn't even remember generating it in the first place.

Eh, at least I haven't seen straight copy-and-paste AI slop in here in a while since the rule waa implemented.  Just certain posters not editing their posts enough to hide the fact their source was AI slop at this point.  Causes more eye rolling than outright irritation for me for whatever reason.  Actually wonder why it feels like people who do this are presenting themselves as fake experts more than just doing "real research" and really summarizing their findings.

We're only human, so far...

You underestimate the flat-earth types who are feeding AI in the first place.
