Chunnel power outage

The Chunnel is currently experiencing a power outage, which has been isolated to one tube; LeShuttle (rail auto ferry service) is now back to limited operations.  Eurostar suspended all of its HSR trains through the Chunnel and has not yet resumed service.  Apparently the power outage began last night as a full outage and (if the news articles are correct) power restoration to one tube is quite recent.  Stay tuned.

The power outage affecting one tube of the Chunnel continues, and some of the Eurostar trains are still being cancelled.  It appears that the power outage is a result of a stranded LeShuttle train in one of the tubes (ergo, that can't be good).

A goodly number of Eurostar passengers were stranded on their trains overnight during New Year's Eve.  Some LeShuttle auto ferry passengers were also affected on New Year's Eve.  Many travellers switched to rental cars in an attempt to hop onto the LeShuttle in order to get back to England before New Years, thereby jamming up the freeways and arterials in approach to the Coquelles entrance.  Surprisingly, news reports are limited.

Given "first/second/third world" had to do with capitalism/communism associations, and not economics like often believed, they still are.

This would be true, if only anybody at all still talked about "second world countries".  For example, unless you consistently refer to Poland as a "second world country" (and Angola as a "first world country"), then you shouldn't insist that people follow the Cold War era definitions of a "third world country".

My larger point is those terms haven't made any real sense since 1991. People probably mean to use "developing nations" instead. Which also wouldn't apply to the UK. Because "the government does things I don't like" isn't what defines a developing nation.

Well, the US would be firmly in the second world based on this definition. And I'm not sure the first world exists, because people tend to be people regardless of where they are living. Also kind of seems like you're just applying your own world view onto people in general, but that's fair, we all do this.
