A similar sequence occurs on northbound MO 7 between Clinton and Harrisonville (or at least it did until the middle sign was replaced in the last year):

The middle sign now includes the junction with I-49 where MO 7 joins for a brief concurrency for the last couple of miles to Harrisonville.

In this case, MO 7 does not end at Harrisonville, but continues north another 37 miles through Pleasant Hill and Blue Springs before terminating at US 24 at the northern edge of Independence.

I drove this yesterday, and was reminded that there was a second sign with only Harrisonville about three miles after the first one-city sign. Emphasis on was, because it was replaced with this sign to add the I-49 junction... with incorrect distances that indicate it was supposed to replace the still-standing first one three miles back!
