I've been off the forum for a week or two and missed this. I have a save-the-date on my calendar for this but haven't been able to 100% commit yet...still hoping to make it, whatever the itinerary looks like.

At present moment an approximately 10 mile section of 1 is closed south of Pfeiffer-Big Sur State Park due to the Timber Fire.  My understanding is that the closure is so fire crews can work on getting further containment versus an issue with the highway.  Fire containment has been increasing per CalFire.  Likely this won't affect 10/24 but I am keeping my eye on it.

The status of the Timber Fire can be viewed here:

And now 1 will be closing again tomorrow in the Big Sur State Park area again:

Also, the Plaskett Fire was reported today in the Gorda area.  Right now it is small but the evacuation map extends to 1:

The next two weeks probably will tell how this going to go.  The Timber Fire containment seems to have been weakening through the week.  Said fire is probably going to close on Tassajara Hot Springs at this rate.

I guess should ask, how far out do some of you need me to make a decision on this meet?  For the west coast folks this isn't a huge travel commitment, but it would be a massive one for anyone from out east.

Oof.  Would love to know by September 10th, but I don't think anything is going to be certain by then the way this fire is going.  We'll see where the fire is at that point and see if it's worth waiting out further?

I definitely don't need to make a call now.  Even if there was a long-term closure south of Big Sur State Park that effected late October it isn't like the area is lacking in worthwhile roads to see.  Carmel Valley Road, Laureles Grade, Jolon Road or some other stuff would still make for a fine meet.

I haven't booked anything yet. It looks like a So Cal Games Day might be scheduled that Saturday, so I'm pulled in two directions :-)

This meet looks like it's going to slot in to the weekend right between two work-related trips for me, so I'm about 95% sure I'm going to be able to make it.

Driving down from Reno will take a little bit of planning, but not as huge of a commitment as it might be for some others coming from much further. I haven't scheduled any time off work or anything yet, but would probably need to know by beginning of October at latest.
