Quote from: I-55 on February 02, 2026, 10:05:48 AMNortheast Indiana in particular has a good amount of:

Amish bakeries - Indiana has the third largest Amish population in the US, with NE Indiana having 3 of the top 10 counties nationally

Steel Dynamics plants - HQ in Fort Wayne

Car washes - Drive n Shine and Mikes are having a war after a gentleman's agreement to stay out of each others' territory (Mikes started constructing in South Bend area, Drive n Shine started building in Fort Wayne to counter).

Are you suggesting that car washes are unusually prominent in northeastern Indiana, more so than in other regions?  That's an interesting claim.

Yes, it's become a local focal point as of recently. As mentioned, Drive n Shine is trying to outcompete Mike's in Fort Wayne after Mike's broke an "agreement" to stay out of South Bend and Drive n Shine stays out of Fort Wayne. Now that the dam has broken, it's an all out war for who has the best car washes. Drive n Shine has already built 3 car washes in FW (with another 2 planned). Other brands like the Tube are trying to get in on the action as well. At some point the bubble has to pop. On my 10 minute commute I drive by 4 of them.

How does Ken's Car Wash figure into this turf war? Ken's Car Washes seem to be very similar to Mikes' but located is different areas, but also sometimes close to each other. They even have the same font on the signs like Checker's and Rally's.
