I have been seeing facebook posts that towns in Rhode Island and Massachusetts have been getting mutual aid crews and equipment from PennDOT, NYSDOT, NY State Thruway, CT DOT, and VTrans.  I think that is pretty cool.  I can't think of another event where this has happened.

I remember NYSDOT sending some crews down to North Carolina and its surrounds in the aftermath of Helene.

Meh.  I think it happens more often than you think, just not on this kind of scale.

Been a weird resource change to allow this to happen.  Over COVID and up until a couple of years ago, NYSDOT's snowplow force was hurting while localities were well-stocked.  The situation has flipped.  Upstate cities have been hurting this year, while NYSDOT has had enough resources to help them out.  NYSDOT did change benefit packages around, but I can't believe that's the only factor.

Kentucky sent several crews. The crew from our district stayed in Boone/Blowing Rock and helped rebuild roads in Avery County. We swapped out the crews a handful of times and ended up being deployed for almost a month.
Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.
