Another month, another set of headlines. I'm sure folks can find something interesting to discuss in this month's set.

Here's the link to the headline post: https://cahighways.org/wordpress/?p=17532

There wasn't many stories but that mud slide last month in Big Sur was cleared after a couple days.  The Big Sur State Parks Facebook page was way more on top of the story as opposed to Caltrans District V.

There were a lot of stories about various mud slides that I saw, but I didn't save them for the headlines post simply because I knew they would be cleared and gone in 2-3 months, and would have no impact on my pages (remember: the headline post is primarily to collect information for my pages). I really only care about a slide that is going to be around for a year or more, and likely will necessitate changes to the route. So not only didn't you see stories on Route 1, but routes like Route 116 that were closed for a while (and even some of the closures on Route 2 and Route 138).

Right, but with 1 the mudslide (at Regent's Slide) that was making all the headlines was cleared after a couple days.  Apparently it was anticipated that during a big storm that it would become clogged with runoff.

The Big Sur slide is one of those that often rises to the level of interest for the pages (similar with Angeles Crest and Route 38), as those often (but not always) involve major road loss.

According to the article about the crest, it implies it's a pretty serious washout. If that's the case that fucking sucks. I was hoping it was just some minor slides and could be open before the summer. When I'm heading to Vegas or Oklahoma I prefer to take the crest over the 210 or the 18. Even though it takes much longer, it's way more enjoyable.
