Infinite cycle of "Verify You Are Human" when trying to log in?

Interesting occurrence when trying to log in today.  Was OK a few days ago.

Using Safari, macOS - Kept getting an infinite cycle of Cloudflare's "Verify You Are Human" prompt.  After checking the box, the prompt just reloaded.  Went on ad infinitum.

Logging in using Firefox (also macOS) worked just fine.  So it's not a show stopper, just an annoyance.  Just that I prefer using Safari.  I suppose I could try disabling some of the Safari extensions I have installed one by one to see if one of them is the culprit.

Anybody else having this issue with whatever combination of OS & browser?

I've had that happen multiple times in the past few days using the Brave browser on my iPad. Several times when I've gotten that, I've tried loading the forum in Safari on the same iPad. Sometimes—such as now—it loads fine (I'm typing this in Safari on that iPad). Other times, it's returned a message in safari saying I'm blocked because I'm a bot, which I suspect has something to do with multiple browsers from the same device trying to access it at the same time. Oddly, I've never had a problem on either my iPhone (using Safari) or my Windows 11 PC (using Firefox).

What version of Safari are you using? As part of our efforts to block scraper bots, we have been blocking some older versions of browsers when we are getting a large number of bot requests masquerading as them, and it's believed that the browser is old enough that it's unlikely a human user would still be using it.

If you are not already on the latest Safari, updating may fix the issue.

Thanks for the reply Scott.  I am browsing on an older machine, the version of Safari is:

Version 18.6 (18621.3.11.19.1, 18621)

Although I just now tried it on a newer Mac (literally purchased yesterday for other reasons) running Safari 26.3.1 and it showed the same issue.

I'm sure you are aware that last year Apple changed their numbering scheme to be year based rather than sequentially numbered, so 18.6 and 26.3.1 aren't as far apart as they look.

For what it's worth - this issue is not happening for me anymore, and it's business as usual once again.  Can now log in with both Safari and Firefox.  Thanks all for the helpful comments!

At the moment, Safari does not have old versions blocked.

There have been some rapid bursts of traffic that may have left the forum or main site inaccessible, and there has not been much I can do about it.
