Weird "New" Icon Glitch

When I went to check the forum today, there was no "new" icon next to the Your Favorite Forum Quotes thread even though I could see from the last post time that it was obviously new and the threads on both sides of it had the new icon.  In the thread itself, the second to last post had the new icon but the last post itself somehow did not.  This is really weird, and come to think of it, I think I had a case of a thread that was between two with a "new" icon that lacked one last night, but didn't realize at the time, only to get surprised later when none looked like they got the icon due to a post edit.  Anyone else see something like this?

It also happened to me, on the same post, except the "New" icon was there on the thread list. Max's post has the "New" icon, but Scott's does not.

Just a couple of minutes ago, there were two threads shown as having unread posts in them.  I could not go into either one of them at all.  I tried multiple ways:  clicking the [New] button, clicking the thread title, going to the sub-board and clicking on a page number, etc.  Nothing worked.  I logged out and back in again, still couldn't get into either one.  Only when I clicked to mark everything 'read' was I able to go into those threads, and then I had no trouble at all.

Edit to add:  I was receiving a Cloudflare "Bad Gateway" error.

Sometimes the NEW icon sends me back several pages, even if I have already read them before.

What do you mean? The link to the thread didn't work? It just gave you blank pages? An error message appeared?

I was receiving a Cloudflare "Bad Gateway" error.

I didn't receive the error when clicking on other threads.  Just the ones that were in my Unread list.  As long as they remained in my Unread list, I couldn't find any way to view them—even logging out and in again.  I had to mark all posts as read—which I actually didn't think would make a difference, but it did.

This feels weird. With search (and clicking "show posts" on a user profile), the limit is somewhere around 30000 posts. I don't think any thread has that many.

It never happened to me with the "NEW" button, by the way, not counting times trying a second time works.

I just saw the glitch today again for the Missouri thread.  I noticed it when I had the peculiar experience of having the Central States board marked as having new posts but no threads in it had the icon.
