A couple years ago, I discovered a nice brown Historic US-99E sign near Richvale CA:

I couldn't find another, all the way up past Chico where it merges into the current CA-99, but I was glad there was at least one. Well, now it's gone:

Historic US-99W has some signage, but US-99E gets no respect, even though it's every bit as pleasant a ride, and is often further from the present highway, not just a frontage road. I can't imagine why the county would take it down, as it really is the old US-99E. I wonder if someone stole it.

Looks like the post was turned into a delineator

Well, I guess that solves that.

Bought mine from Jake so infer from that what you will.  I never bothered asking him questions about where he got so many old signs.

Not the same one. The one pderocco is referring is a Historic Route sign.

Correct, the one I have is from when US 99E in Oregon was still active.  Finding a California variant of a US 99E shield would cost way more money than I paid.
