It wasn't a maturity thing.  He had well documented neurodivergence issues.

Oh alright.

As a person with autism you probably shouldn't completely blame that for his behavior, not that it might've been a reason. Sorry if this potentially comes off as rude.

Unrelated but I just read through some of Scott Kozel's clutter in the Fox/CBS thread or whatever it's called.... That was a wild ride until it finally got back on topic and inevitably died, especially kphogers "story" about "Clare" if that's what you want to call it. That's not a weird thread per se but most of it is just stuff about dating which would be an interesting discussion just it's not really meant for a road forum, also I feel like Kozel kind of made it tough to read through at times, no shade to him as well.

Imagine being a younger female office worker at VDOT and have a quiet IT coworker who seems lonely.  Out of kindness you invite him out to lunch at Ruby Tuesdays because you feel bad.  The lunch seemingly goes well until he lays this on you:

"I've contemplated bearing you children as my father lived to an elderly age.  However at this juncture I must decline your offer of intimacy.  I do not feel this match between us will be an ideal pair bonding.  I thank you for your interest and will be adding this interaction to my spreadsheet of dates."

Sounds like if an AI was willing to write a rejection for someone... who didn't want to just speak their mind to a rejection themselves.

That being said it depends on where the Ruby Tuesdays was located in the first place, it really has to be somewhere romantic and not in the suburban cluster of NoVA.

It could've been also possible that those two people at Ruby Tuesdays may have been... Scott and Clare, but that just doesn't make sense.

As someone who's neurodivergent himself, there's good reason why "divergent" is part of the term.  Neurodivergence affects behavior.  Therefore, I find the whole "don't blame autism for someone's behavior" to be quite unrealistic.  Autism can cause such behavior, that's all there is to it.

But, using autism to excuse rude, annoying, socially-inappropriate behaviors is something that should be avoided except in the more extreme cases.

And, of course, immaturity and neurodivergence are not exclusive.  Probably was both in tolbs' case.

From what I recall Tolbs was given every opportunity to reign his behavior in.  The mod staff was pretty gentle in handling him.  He either didn't get what he was being told or didn't want to.

Kyle Hoger has a 90:10 baloney:information ratio.

The 90:10 ratio is one thing, but the real issue is how the 90% tends to bulldoze whatever conversation was happening -- it often ends up stepping over the points other posters were trying to make.

Scroll thru his last 100 to 200 posts -- sometimes the info quotient is only about 5%.

I mean, you'd have to tell Tolbs that, as he was the one who blamed that for his behavior. Most people here are pretty good about just assuming people act the way they do because that's how they are and not digging for reasons why. (Which probably has to do with enough roadgeeks being somewhere on the spectrum that it's just normal to us.)

That was such an immensely weird thing for me to read as someone named Scott who has a fictional character named Clare. It almost felt like unintentional fan fiction, if not for the fact that Kyle didn't mention her horns or tail.

I still personally think it's a mistake, screen time as a whole has caused issues for younger generations. Chromebooks being used during schools doesn't really help with that and also I feel like it makes teaching somehow worse.

It seems like a lot of content filters would not block AARoads in schools since a lot of the main site (and forum content, too) is educational.

It's never been random for me. Trying to look at the posts of the top two posters (kphoger and Max Rockatansky) always return 502, and everyone else always works fine.

As for searches, it matters how much you narrow it down, but trying the same search twice will always work both times or neither time.
