TRAFFIC ALERT - New Castle County - Route 2 Eastbound On-Ramp to Route 141 Nighttime Closure for Bridge Repairs

I take DE 141 north to DE 2 (Kirkwood Highway) east as part of my commute.  Yesterday coming home, there were a couple of signs in Elsmere directing NB DE 141 traffic to take DE 100 (DuPont Road) north as the detour.  I wondered what was going on there.

DelDOT has a study published that's looking to trim DE 18 and DE 404's eastern termini back to eliminate all their concurrencies with each other and US 9.

This makes sense. These concurrencies only exist because DE 404 was extended east from Bridgeville to Five Points to give motorists one number to follow between US 50 and the Delaware Beaches. But with GPS these days having a single number to follow doesn't make as much sense anymore.

Not sure why DelDOT needs to do a study for what would likely amount to a work order here in NY, but I'm glad to see that the elimination of the redundant concurrencies is at least being considered.

I just hope everything gets signed properly.  DE 15's zig-zag through Kent County wasn't the last time I tried to follow it, but that was around August 2003.
