I must say NJ has gotten real bad with their signing practices.

This really belongs in the NJ thread.

But since we're here, IIRC that overpass is due to have some major work done to it, so it's not a real surprise to me that they took the BGS's down from it. NJDOT has changed its practices and I believe avoids mounting them to overpasses when it can these days (for example, the Exit 10 overhead at the River Rd overpass on 287 NB was removed and a new sign on its own cantilever was installed instead). Some of the other sign replacements happened as part of structure replacements as the state continues to replace the older triangular truss overheads since they've reached or exceeded their service lives. It's coinciding with other work they've been doing in the area.
