This is a piece of childhood as I grew up watching Emergency! when I was very young. Emergency! was also influential as it changed the public perception of "What the hell is a paramedic?" to having one (or similar role) in major communities.

He asked that same question himself when he was cast for the series.  But he took the role seriously and he remained a strong advocate for paramedic services.

The only other thing in which I saw him was the Night Gallery episode "Class of '99" where he portrayed the lone voice of reason in Rod Serling's commentary on prejudice.
