Why is Morris Street and EB CR 510 signed for Lafayette Ave

I noticed in New Jersey along I-287 SB in Morristown that both directions of Morris County Route 510 are signed for the same ramp that merges into WB CR 510.  Motorists for CR 510 EB and Morris Street are directed along CR 510 Westbound to where both Lafayette and Morris meet to double back.

That's understandable,  but considering there is a ramp to Ridgedale Avenue at the same exit ramp from the freeway, with Ridgedale SB connecting to CR 510 EB more directly, that both CR 510 and Morris Street would be signed for Ridgedale Avenue instead.

Is that an oversight, or did the engineers do it for traffic control?  To me I'm assuming locals use Ridgedale Ave anyway to connect with both Morris Street and CR 510 EB, so the signs really dont mean a thing. Plus the GPS I'm certain tells motorists to use Ridgedale over CR 510 Westbound as well.

Googlemaps does send you on Ridgedale Ave.
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.
