Carson City / Lake Tahoe Meet - June 12, 2027

I've mentioned this to a few people and I'm making it official: there will be a Lake Tahoe road meet next spring!

Planned sites are as follows, with changes and expansions likely as things develop:

• Downtown Carson City, featuring the capitol, mint, and road diet completed as part of the I-580 bypass project
• Wigwags and cats eye signs at the Nevada State Railroad Museum
• Abandoned US 50/ Lake Tahoe Wagon Road at Logan Shoals
• Cave Rock Tunnels
• Old Meyers Grade (old US 50)
• Kingsbury Grade (SR 207), a historic corridor connecting the lake to the Carson Valley. Old alignment is visible and even the new alignment has a 9% grade.
• Genoa, the oldest European settlement in Nevada
• Old Clear Creek Road, 2nd generation US 50 that has a short state-maintained section (unsigned SR 705)
• The maintained part of Kings Canyon Road, OG Lincoln Highway/ US 50 with a nice waterfall at the end of pavement.

The date chosen is intentional: NCUTCD's midyear meeting is in Reno the three days prior to the meet, so many road enthusiasts will already be in the region. Most details apart from date and general route are TBD, but we have a long time to go, and I'm willing to add in things in the region that people may want to see.

If the Aces are in town on June 11, I may be willing to arrange a group baseball game if there's enough interest. Greater Nevada Field is a beautiful facility along the Truckee River in downtown Reno, with mountain and skyline views, as well as great railfanning if you're into that. While small, it's one of the nicer facilities in AAA baseball.

Jessica and I are probably going.  The only caveat is that we don't know when the high school graduation for our oldest niece is.

Aces are away that week, so no baseball game as part of the meet. That doesn't mean I'm not open to a pre-meet activity, either social or more involved road/etc...

I've never done a "road meet" but that's a home game for me so I expect I would join in, so people know there really is a fat little man sitting at a laptop posting, rather than a bot.

I believe "America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride", which renders the roads around Lake Tahoe undriveable for a day for anyone with common sense, is always the first Sunday in June, so that would be the week before.
