A federal judge has rulled traffic control devices will be put in place by traffic engineers and not by bureaucrats. I'm having a bit of trouble finding the article in my 10990 saved web pages so for the first time in my life I used an AI. Here is a portion of it. Federal judges have determined that the installation of traffic control devices must be carried out by qualified traffic engineers. This ruling underscores the necessity of having trained professionals involved in the decision-making process to ensure compliance with safety regulations and effective traffic management. https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/23/630.1104 https://codelibrary.amlegal.com/codes/fullerton/latest/fullerton_ca/0-0-0-7003 https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2023/12/19/2023-27178/national-standards-for-traffic-control-devices-the-manual-on-uniform-traffic-control-devices-for https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-23/chapter-I/subchapter-G/part-630/subpart-K Most of what I do as a cyclist is prevent police from enforcing local laws that are in conflict with federal laws. As a general rule these laws have been made by bureaucrats who have never read the federal laws. I get critized for not quoting the law I am talking about.I'm not going to help you if you are doing something reckless but next time you are victum of a speed trap use this law.

Bullshit. None of the links say that.

I think most traffic control devices are put in place by construction workers.

The "know it all" douchebaggery by this guy this starting to become pretty next level.  These two lines in particular got a pretty good laugh from me:

Yes, blame everyone else for being completely shitty at actually citing sources.  And who knew that the internet forum bike enthusiast who likes to look at drains was our only hope for salvation regarding speed trap enforcement.

Eh, we need someone like this on the forum to complain about, it seems.

Evidently, the powers-that-be hired additional positions.

Well, there's your problem, right there.

Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.

Aren't these things already installed by traffic engineers? Usually it's done by whatever construction company is doing the work. I don't think the mayor of a random city is personally installing these things.

Only Federal Judges can install traffic control devices.  I was under the impression that everyone was on the same page, clearly I was wrong.

The original poster is clueless about what he's citing. The URLs give it away. He's cited two sections of the Code of Federal Regulations (which are administrative agency rules), a Federal Register notice issued by the FHWA, and a municipal code from Fullerton, California. No federal judge issued that material.

First link:  a short list of FHWA definitions related to road construction.

Second link:  a portion of the Fullerton (CA) municipal code authorizing the City Traffic Engineer to install traffic control devices.  This is hardly unique to Fullerton:  pretty much any city will have a similar section in its municipal code.  Not sure what that has to do with federal judges.

Third link:  the current edition of the MUTCD is incorporated into the Federal Register.  Whoopee.

Fourth link:  guidance from the FHWA regarding the installation of temporary traffic control devices in work zones.  Not sure what that has to do with federal judges.

How long before he claims that the use of gold fringe on the flags in court mean that the country is governed under maritime law rather than common law?

I'm not so sure.  Bike Hazard doesn't really seem to care much about engaging in conversation regarding whatever madness they have wrought.

vdeane is referring to an argument that some of them assert claiming that the gold fringe is a naval thing and that if a naval flag is there, it means the court must apply admiralty law. Like everything else those people argue, it's frivolous.

Judge Posner has noted that they also love using ALL CAPS as though doing so has some sort of special legal significance.
