wowwwwww.... times are tough, it seems.
I'll bet at least half of them were from I-85, US 29, and other numbered highways in Anderson County! At least he's a roadgeek, just for the wrong reasons.
Go Cubs Go! Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs are gonna win today!

I don't like the idea of sign stealing. I think it is wasteful, and those in possession of stolen signs should be prosecuted. I do have some personal experience with it, though. When my mother and I were cleaning out the garage of her house after my stepfather's death, we found a county highway sign he took because the sign bore the first and last initials of my stepfather's name (which, incidentally, are identical to the initials of my mother's first and last name, even though she kept her birth last name after marrying him).

I've told this story before, but the first time I stayed in that motel off of US Business Route 70 and I-95 in Smithfield, North Carolina, I saw a whole bunch of road signs and signposts in a pile at the bottom of the embankment on the southeast corner of the interchange. If I had a light-duty pickup truck or stake truck instead of a car, I would've considered grabbing them all, throwing them in the truck and dragging them to the nearest NCDOT maintenance yard, rather than merely stealing them for my own personal gain.

However, this is a South Carolina board, so I'm going to discuss something there.

I was just reading the latest version of the Wikipedia article on US 17 in South Carolina, and somebody wrote in the fact that the interchange at the east end of the US 17-21 overlap was converted into somewhat of a diamond interchange with a roundabout at the southbound off and on-ramps along US 17 southwest of Carolina Cider Company. Those of you who know me know I'm kind of skeptical about the use of roundabouts, but I took a GSV of the area and I'd have to say it doesn't look so bad. Now I'd like to see an interchange at the west end of the US 17-21 overlap, with or without roundabouts.

It's been years since the last time I've been here. Has there been accidents? I see it still doesn't have a signal.

I think a signal at that intersection (which incidentally is also the southern terminus of Alternate US 17) will suffice.  Probably not much in the way of turns onto either direction of higher speed US 17, but a signal would at least provide protection for those making a left turn to follow US 21 south.  And there's very little development in this immediate area (it's mostly near the I-95/US 17 interchange), so I wouldn't think any additional traffic signals would be warranted that could potentially slow down US 17 any more than what this one signal would do.

NCDOT quit replacing the "Barstow, Ca. 2554 mi" sign at I-40's Wilmington terminus because it was stolen so many times.

I've driven past the one in Barstow, CA too that says "Wilmington, NC 2554 mi".

Look at the post above about SC residents caught stealing 200 highway signs. My post was constructive. Yours was not.

Perhaps you should quote the post you're replying to, especially if it's not the one immediately above it. The post above was talking about an interchange along US-17, not sign stealing.

Wait... I get it. I literally posted a story about signs being stolen. And you literally gave an example.

The "constructive" was about me saying wrong thread.

Brain fart.
