On the 1928 to 1930 Oklahoma highway maps, US 164 followed modern US 60/412 west from Enid, then turned south at OK 58 at Ringwood, then turned east (north) onto modern OK 8, then followed current US 60 to the Texas line.  On the 1931 map, it shows US 60 running along its current alignment.  Is there a story behind why the highway was rerouted?  Was the bridge over the Cimarron River at Orienta built in 1930-31?  Or did they simply reroute it over a better highway?
