Way too fast for the winter, but should be perfectly fine for the summer.

I keep seeing this sentiment in various places in regards to speed limits, but I don't get it.  Isn't that weather dependent rather than time of year?  It's not like major highways are snow covered through most/all of winter - just during and immediately after snowfall!  What's wrong with going full speed in winter when the pavement is bare?

^ British Columbia has long had some freeways with 120km/h speed limits. Good to see Alberta catching up (however cautiously) with its neighbor.

Tbh, I'm not sure why they don't have a variable corridor that maxes out at 130. Way too fast for the winter, but should be perfectly fine for the summer.

Except when it rains. And will the system sense the rain. Etc.
USA has a few states at 130, but 120 is a bit more the norm here. You can go 130 in a 120 and unlikely to be pulled.
