Delaware 2 east & 72 north
Delaware 2 east & 72 north lower from the intersection with Delaware 273 (Ogletown Road / East Main Street) to pass under a CSX Railroad bridge. The span acts as a colorful gateway to Newark for points east along Capitol Trail. Photo taken 06/18/12.
Drivers emerge from below the CSX Railroad bridge at the busy intersection with Cleveland and Woodlawn Avenues. Cleveland Avenue provides a third east-west route across Newark. Woodlawn Avenue travels eastward into a residential area to the right.
This intersection was reconfigured from late 2014 to mid 2015. Crosswalks were added and the turn lanes from Cleveland Avenue east to Capitol Trail were restriped. Mast-arm supported signals replaced span wire assemblies as well. Photo taken 06/18/12.
Due to the tight turning radius from Cleveland Avenue to Capitol Trail west, truckers are directed east along Delaware 2 to Anna Way. An adjacent turnaround on Anna Way completes a U-turn for Delaware 2 west.
Considering that Delaware 2 now ends just south of Cleveland Avenue, this assembly should display Delaware 72 south instead. Photo taken 09/26/14.

A two-lane concrete road with full shoulders, Milltown Road is a busy commuter route in and around the confluence of Delaware 7 (Limestone Road) and McKennans Church Road at Milltown. Kirkwood Highway expands to six overall lanes east from St. James Church Road as nearly solid commercial development lines Delaware 2 through to Prices Corner. St. James Church Road provides a popular short cut with Telegraph Road south to Delaware 4 & 7 at Stanton. Photo taken 06/05/12.
Passing south of Midway Shopping Center, Delaware 2 nears the junction with Delaware 7 (Limestone Road). Limestone Road forms the primary north-south arterial through Pike Creek Valley. The roadway saw expansion from rural two-lane standards to a four-lane arterial northward from Milltown Road to Valley Road near Hockessin in stages between 1980 and 2000. Photo taken 12/27/16.

Duncan Road stems north from Greenbank Road and Newport Roads at Marshallton to intersect Delaware 2 (Kirkwood Highway) at the subsequent eastbound signal. Albertson Boulevard ties into the main exit from Prices Corner Shopping Center as a connector between Kirkwood Highway and Greenbank Road. Delaware 141 upgrades to a limited access highway southward from Delaware 2 to Newport and the expansive interchange with Interstates 95 and 295. The Newport Freeway was completed in 1979 to bypass a congested stretch of Newport Gap Pike (old Delaware 41). The route today comprises a busy commuter route between Kirkwood Highway and I-95. The right lane departs from Kirkwood Highway east for Delaware 141 north to Greenville and Fairfax. Centre Road extends the state route northeast to Delaware 34 (Faulkland Road) along a four-lane arterial rebuilt 2007-10. Crossing into the city of Wilmington, Delaware 2 (Union Street) intersects Prospect Road south to the Canby Park Estates neighborhood. A unique traffic pattern sees Prospect Road flow south from Delaware 2 to Rodman Road, and a south side frontage road (New Road) providing return access to Union Street.
