Alabama State Route 8 travels across the width of the state from I-20/59 at Cuba to the Georgia state line at Phenix City. All but the western 2.28 miles of the route is the unsigned counterpart of U.S. 80. The independent section of SR 8 in the town of Cuba links I-20/59 at Exit 1 with U.S. 11/80.

Alabama Route 8 East
SR 8 begins at the diamond interchange with I-59/20 at the town of Cuba. I-59/20 cross the state line east from Meridian, Mississippi and continue northeast 70 miles to Tuscaloosa. 12/08/00
SR 8 links I-59/20 with parallel U.S. 11/80 at Cuba. U.S. 80 overtakes the four lane highway from SR 8 east to Demopolis, Selma and Montgomery. 08/10/02
Alabama Route 8 West
Sumter County Road 10 crosses SR 8 between U.S. 11/80 and I-59/20. 02/06/10
SR 8 west reduces to a single lane midway across the overpass above I-59/20. 02/06/10
SR 8 west at the eastbound entrance ramp for I-59/20 to Tuscaloosa and Birmingham. 02/06/10
Spanning I-59/20, SR 8 west advances to the westbound entrance ramp to Meridian, Mississippi. The state route dead ends just beyond the diamond interchange. 12/08/00
Traffic reduces to a single through lane ahead of the left turn for I-20/59 south. The divided highway extends slightly further to a shuttered service station and a local, unpaved road. 02/06/10
