8.68 miles in length, SH 8 joins the town of Morrison with the city of Lakewood in Jefferson County and the Denver metropolitan area. The western leg links the expressway along U.S. 285 between Mount Falcon and Mount Glennon with SH 74 and the Morrison business district.

The northern leg of SH 8 passes between Dinosaur Ridge and Mount Glennon east from Morrison to C-470 and Lakewood. Following Morrison Road, SH 8 separates Bear Creek Lake Park from suburban development to Bear Creek Boulevard. SH 8 continues between Bear Creek Golf Club and Fox Hollow Golf Course to SH 391 (Kipling Parkway). The eastern extent of Morrison Road to SH 121 narrows to two lanes through residential areas of Lakewood.

West from the end of SH 8, U.S. 285 passes between Mount Falcon and Mount Lindo. 04/22/17
East from SH 8 to Mount Glennon, U.S. 285 upgrades to a freeway en route to Lakewood and Sheridan. 04/22/17
