Colorado 83 starts in Colorado Springs, then parallels Interstate 25 to the east. Entering the Denver metropolitan area from the southeast, Colorado 83 passes by Castle Rock, then travels through Parker before entering Centennial and Aurora. Through southwestern Aurora, Colorado 83 changes from a two-lane rural highway into a major commuter route. Colorado 83 parallels Cherry Creek as it enters Denver, then comes to its northern terminus at Colorado 2 (Colorado Boulevard) near Glendale.

Taking the off-ramp to Hampden Avenue, the mainline for Colorado 83 remains with four through lanes. Hampden Avenue is disconnected from the other section of Hampden Avenue west of Havana Street by Cherry Creek State Park and John F. Kennedy Park. Photo taken 11/10/03.

Cherry Creek State Park is bordered on the north by Interstate 225, east by Colorado 83 (Parker Road), and southwest by Jordan Road and Belleview Avenue. The park contains the Cherry Creek Lake reservoir, and it is very popular for hiking, bicycling, and other outdoor activities. One of the main entrances to the park is located at Lehigh Avenue from Parker Road. Photo taken 11/10/03.
