Measuring 18.85 miles in length, Colorado State Highway 93 connects the city of Golden with the city of Boulder west of Denver. Beginning north from the intersection of U.S. 6 (Sixth Avenue) and SH 58 (Golden Freeway) by the entrance to Clear Creek Canyon, SH 93 constitutes a controlled access arterial to the west of North Table Mountain. Beyond North Table Mountain Park at Van Bibber Creek meets W 58th Avenue by a number of subdivisions in unincorporated Jefferson County.

Continuing north beyond the Table Rock Ridge development, SH 93 runs along the western extent of the Arvada city limits toward Blunn Reservoir. The two lane highway rises onto a plateau beyond Ralston Creek and ahead of Leyden Gulch. SH 93 wholly enters west Arvada ahead of SH 72 (Coal Creek Canyon) on the Rocky Flats.

Passing west of Rocky Flats Lake, SH 93 bee lines north into Boulder County. SH 128 west converges with SH 93 north of Coal Creek at Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks. A climbing lane opens along southbound as SH 93 (Foothills Highway) lowers 400 feet in elevation leading to SH 170 at Marshall. Foothills Highway expands to a four lane boulevard from SH 170 into south Boulder.

Staying west of U.S. 36, SH 93 follows S Broadway to the United States Department of Commerce campus and the Main Campus for the University of Colorado Boulevard. SH 93 concludes along Broadway at SH 119 (Boulder Canyon Drive / Canyon Boulevard) on the south side of Downtown Boulder.

SH 93 was an original route in the Colorado State Highway system dating from the 1920s. It first ran north from Morrison along the Hog Back to Golden and was extended to Marshall by 1939. Dropped by 1954, the portion south of Marshall was replaced with a southerly extension to SH 72 the following year.1

SH 93 was lengthened south in 1984 from SH 72 to SH 58 along Washington Avenue in Golden. A further change realigned SH 93 west around Golden to U.S. 6/SH 58 (Golden Freeway) in 1992.1
