A $4.7 million project underway from September 2017 to late Summer 2018 replaced asphalt at the intersection of U.S. 98, SR 50 and SR 50A to better accommodate heavy truck traffic. Sidewalks were added to both sides of the roadway as well.2 Photo taken 10/23/19.

Just west of a CSX Railroad crossing is the south end of Hernando County Road 445 (Main Street). A month plus long closure of SR 50 upgraded this crossing on February 12, 2018. Work replaced approximately 800 feet of roadway on each side of the railroad with new concrete, made turning radius improvements and added sidewalks.3 Photo taken 07/06/20.
