Camping World Stadium, formerly the Citrus Bowl, lies northwest of Exit 9 at Church Street and Rio Grande Avenue. Orlando City Stadium, home of the MLS Orlando City SC, lies east of OBT along Church Street. Tinker Field was a baseball stadium located next to the Citrus Bowl. It was demolished in 2015. Exit 9 departs SR 408 west for U.S. 17-92-441 (OBT). OBT was originally an auto trail linking Kissimmee, Orlando, Apopka and Mount Dora. U.S. 441 follows the route northwest to Leesburg. SR 423 / County Road 423 (John Young Parkway) constitutes a major north-south arterial through west Orlando. John Young Parkway south serves south Orlando, Williamsburg, and north Kissimmee; northbound heads toward Fairvilla and Eatonville. The parkway was named after astronaut John Young. John Young Parkway doubles as CR 423, a sporadically signed route, southward to I-4 and the Osceola County line. SR 423 follows John Young Parkway northward to U.S. 441 (Orange Blossom Trail), where it turns east along Lee Road toward its end at U.S. 17 & 92 (Orlando Avenue) in Winter Park. A $17 million project underway from late 2016 to July 2018 added a lane in each direction of SR 408 from Hiawassee Road to Good Homes Road. This included expanding the express toll lanes at the Hiawassee Main Plaza to six overall lanes and erecting sound walls.1 Photos taken 10/20/18.
Good Homes Road travels north from parallel Old Winter Garden Road to SR 438 (Silver Star Road). The arterial was expanded to four overall lanes from Exit 2 north to West Colonial Drive during a widening project along SR 50 finished by Spring 2011. Photo taken 10/20/18.
