A half mile portion of Fletcher Avenue between U.S. 41 Business (Florida Avenue) and U.S. 41 (Nebraska Avenue) north of Tampa is state maintained and signed as Florida 579. This section of Fletcher Avenue includes a diamond interchange with Interstate 275.

Fletcher Avenue east of Nebraska Avenue (U.S. 41) is Hillsborough County 582A, while the portion west to Dale Mabry Highway (Florida 579) is mostly an undesignated arterial. Fletcher Avenue east eventually reaches Interstate 75 at the eastern extent of the Tampa city limits. There unsigned CR 582A ends and CR 579 begins. CR 579 follows Morris Bridge Road north into Pasco County. It is unclear if the two 579's were ever connected.
