Georgia State Route 300 is the Florida-Georgia Parkway, a 106.67 mile long corridor from the Florida state line north of Monticello to Interstate 75 south of Cordele. SR 300 accompanies U.S. 19/SR 3 north 70.02 miles to Thomasville, Pelham, Camilla and Albany. SR 300 turns east U.S. 19 and from the freeway of Albany alongside U.S. 82/SR 520, 1.40 miles to Coredele Road. The remainder of SR 300 travels independent of another route 35.25 miles northeast to Warwick in Worth County and southern reaches of the Cordele city limits in Crisp County.

The four lane corridor along SR 300 linking Albany with I-75 at Cordele was originally proposed as Interstate 175. Under the provision of 23 U.S.C. 103(e)(2), the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) conditionally approved a Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) request made on January 16, 1975 with certain financial considerations to withdrawal I-485 in Atlanta and substitute three alternate routes across the state. The routes included I-175 from a junction with the proposed Albany Bypass (SR 333) 37.8 northeast to I-75, along with 6.0 miles of I-420 in Atlanta and 9.5 miles of I-675 in Clayton County.

GDOT subsequently requested for the withdrawal of Interstate 175 between Albany and Cordele and the concurrent substitution of I-520 at Augusta and I-575 north to Canton and Pickens County to the FWHA on June 10, 1977. FHWA approved the requests on August 23, 1977:

We have completed our review of your withdrawal/substitution proposal and determined that I-175 is not essential to the completion of a unified and connected Interstate and that it will not be built as part of that System.
In closing, we are pleased to grant our approval of your proposal for a better and more effective highway system for your State. We particularly note your commitment to initiate appropriate non-Interstate highway improvements to serve the Albany-Cordele corridor. You may rest assured that you will have the full support and cooperation of the Federal Highway Administration in your efforts to serve the transportation needs of the State of Georgia.
