Inventoried by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) as BI 27U, Business Loop I-27 through Plainview supersedes U.S. 87 Business between Exits 45 and 53. Angling northeast from Ferguson, BI 27U parallels a BNSF Railroad line along a four lane divided highway into the city of Plainview near Hale County Airport (PVW). The route joins Columbia Street north ahead of U.S. 70 (5th Street) in Downtown. Another BNSF Railroad accompanies BI 27U north from Campbell Street to the trumpet interchange with IH 27 at Exit 53 and the north city line.
Established on June 21, 1990, Business Loop I-27U replaced State Loop 445 in a mileage transfer. The route measures 9.272 miles in length.
North
Business Loop I-27 north concludes at the loop ramp for IH 27/U.S. 87 south. A left turn also provides access to the west side frontage road.
