Business Loop I-27 through Plainview supersedes U.S. 87 Business between Exits 45 and 53. Veering northeast from Ferguson, the business loop parallels a BNSF Railroad line along a four-lane divided highway into the city of Plainview near Hale County Airport (PVW). The route joins Columbia Street north through downtown, meeting U.S. 70 (5th Street) in the process. Another BNSF Railroad accompanies the route north from Campbell Street to its trumpet interchange with IH 27 at the north city line.
Established on June 21, 1990, Business Loop I-27U replaced State Loop 445 in a mileage transfer. The route totals 9.282 miles in length.
