Interstate 65 south
A couple of miles south of the rest area, we are now at the half mile approach to Exit 147 for Indiana 47. State Road 47 consists of a 64.2-mile route from U.S. 41 near Annapolis to Indiana 38 at Sheridan. Photo taken 12/29/11.
State Road 47 arcs northeast from Crawfordsville through Darlington to Thorntown and SR 75. SR 47 continues east 4.7 miles to a diamond interchange (Exit 146) with Interstate 65. East of Exit 146, SR 47 travels 2.1 miles to Pike (SR 39) and 14.8 miles to the Hamilton County community of Sheridan. Photo taken 12/29/11.
South of Exit 146, Interstate 65 is five miles from U.S. 52 (via Exit 141) and seven miles from the Boone County seat of Lebanon. Indianapolis is 35 miles away. Photo taken 12/29/11.

Exit 141 for Lafayette Avenue is less than a mile away on the left, the only left-hand exit between the northern terminus in Gary and the interchange with Interstate 70 in Downtown Indianapolis. Photo taken 12/29/11.
Exit 141 consists of back to back wye interchanges. The northern connection brings traffic from U.S. 52 onto Interstate 65 for a 12-mile overlap toward Indianapolis. Lafayette Avenue heads off to the east toward Lebanon while Interstate 65 & U.S. 52 bypass the city with the next interchange a mile to the south at Indiana 32. Photo taken 12/29/11.
Interstate 65 south & U.S. 52 east
Exit 140 departs Interstate 65 north & U.S. 52 west for Indiana 32 (South Street). Indiana 32 travels the width of the state between Illinois state line outside Danville and Ohio at Union City. Indiana 32 tallies 156.8 miles through Perrysville, Crawfordsville, Lebanon, Noblesville, Anderson, Muncie, Winchester and Union City. More locally, SR 32 joins Lebanon with Crawfordsville, 21 miles to the west at Interstate 74. Photo taken 12/29/11.
Interstate 65 & U.S. 52 shields greet motorists south of Exit 140. A $32-million project widens Interstate 65 to six lanes between Exits 140 and 138 through to the end of 2012. Interstate 65 north & U.S. 52 west reach the Exit 139 off-ramp to Indiana 39. SR 39 follows Lebanon Street into downtown Lebanon nearby. Southward, the state road continues 3.7 miles to Milledgeville and 10.1 miles to Interstate 74 outside Lizton. Another pair of Interstate 65 & U.S. 52 shields greet motorists south of Exit 138 along the highway. South of Exit 138 (Hall Baker Road), Interstate 65 & U.S. 52 widens to six lanes as it heads southeast along the original alignment of U.S. 52 toward Indianapolis, now 27 miles away. Brownsburg and Zionsville are 14 and 11 miles away respectively. Photos taken 05/14/12.
The interstate was widened to six lanes in 2010 to handle the traffic that flows between Lebanon and Indianapolis as well as the long-distance Chicago-bound traffic. Two roads, Perry-Worth and Indianapolis, follow the interstate on the east and west sides respectively, serving as frontage roads that were built when the original interstate was built along the path of U.S. 52. A half mile away from Exit 133 (Indiana 267 South). Indiana 267 goes for 30 miles from Interstate 65 through Brownsburg, Avon, Plainfield and Mooresville, ending at Indiana 67. Photo taken 03/24/11.
Now at the rebuilt diamond interchange that is Exit 133 (Indiana 267). For southbound travelers, the exit primarily serves Brownsburg and the suburbs of Hendricks County which can be reached by Indiana 267 South. For those heading to Whitestown, they can go north on County Road 400 East and east on County Road 300 South. The Six Points Industrial Park is located to the east of the exit. Photo taken 05/14/12.
South of Exit 133 (Indiana 267 South), Interstate 865 is three miles away and Zionsville is nine miles away, despite the fact that the Zionsville exit is first. Indianapolis is 22 miles away. Photo taken 05/14/12.

Exit 130 for Oak Street, serving Zionsville and Whitestown is a mile away. Until the Summer of 2011, Oak Street was known as Indiana 334, which went from Indianapolis Road (Old U.S. 52) east for six miles through Zionsville to U.S. 421. The road has since been returned to both Zionsville and Whitestown. The Anson development, which will be built up with residential homes, retail, and office parks, stretches along the east side of Interstate 65/U.S. 52 from Exit 133 to Exit 130. Photo taken 05/14/12.
Now at Exit 130 for Whitestown and Zionsville, which is a diamond interchange that was widened during the reconstruction of Interstate 65 in 2010. To the west, the road is known as County Road 650 South which ends at Indiana 267 in the small town of Fayette. To the east, it is known as Oak Street which heads straight for the heart of Downtown Zionsville. Whitestown can be reached from County Road 650 East off of Oak Street to the east of the exit. Interstate 65/U.S. 52 swells to four lanes as it approaches the junction with Interstate 865 East. The right two lanes go onto Interstate 865 with the left two lanes continuing south on Interstate 65. Exit 129 consists of a wye interchange with Interstate 865 & U.S. 52 east from Interstate 65 south. Interstate 865 was designated in 2002 over the "dogleg" portion of Interstate 465 and travels just 4.7 miles. There are no interchanges between its end points. Following Exit 129 (Interstate 865/U.S. 52 east), Interstate 65 goes back to four lanes at it now four miles from 71st Street, five miles from Interstate 465 and 19 miles from Downtown Indianapolis. Photo taken 05/14/12.
