Interstate 94 U.S. 12 West
An auxiliary lane opens between the U.S. 12 west on-ramp from Exit 4 and the approaching departure ramp for Wis 35 south (Exit 3). Wis 35 is the longest state trunk highway in Wisconsin, traveling just over 412 miles along the western side of the state from Illinois to Superior. Photo taken 04/23/07.

STH 35 south departs for River Falls, located 8.3 miles to the southeast. The first 2.5 miles are part of a realigned freeway that opened in the late 1990's. Prior to the opening of the freeway portion, STH 35 met I-94 at a trumpet interchange immediately east of its current configuration. Photo taken 04/23/07.

The remaining exits in Wisconsin along the interstate serve the city of Hudson, which lies on the east banks of the St. Croix River. Once known as Willow River and Buena Vista, Hudson has slowly grown over the years to over 12,700 residents. The city is located a mere 18.5 miles from Downtown St. Paul. Photo taken 04/23/07.
I-94/U.S. 12 and STH 35 advance a half mile west to CTH F (Carmichael Road). Carmichael Road stems south from Exit 2 toward Kinnickinnic State Park and Prescott, both situated along the St. Croix River in adjoining Pierce County. Photo taken 04/23/07.

STH 35 north branches north from I-94/U.S. 12 west in one mile. Minnesota Trunk Highway 95 (St. Croix Trail N.) interacts with the freeway immediately west of the St. Croix River near Lakeland. STH 35 north leaves Interstate 94 and U.S. 12 west prior the St. Croix River bridge into Minnesota. Downtown Hudson lies one mile north of Exit 1. STH 35 parallels the St. Croix River for another 37.9 miles to St. Croix Falls before heading further toward its eventual end in Superior. Photo taken 04/23/07.

Exit 258 with Minnesota Highway 95 and County Route 18 lies at the west end of the St. Croix River bridge along I-94/U.S. 12. CR 18 continues south of the upcoming diamond interchange into Lakeland. The city of Stillwater is situated along MN 95 and the St. Croix River 6.9 miles north of Exit 258. Photo taken 04/23/07.
Prior to leaving the Badger State, Interstate 94 and U.S. 12 west enter the Lower St. Croix National Scenic Riverway. The riverway encompasses the St. Croix and Namekagon Rivers in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Photo taken 04/23/07.
